Image acquisition

- The optical scanner system consists of a probe which is lowered into the borehole by a motor driven winch. The depth is measured by a depth wheel. While lowering the probe a contiunous image of the circumference of the wellbore is taken using a fisheye lens. The image is saved on the surface computing unit. It is instantly oriented to magnetic north by a three axis compass, which is part of the probe. The inclination and direction of the borehole is recorded while taking the images.
- length of the probe: 1,63 m
- diameter of the probe: 42 mm (housing) 52 mm (bottom section); minimum borehole diameter NQ
- maximum diameter of the borehole: up to 500 mm
- in clear water and air filled boreholes
- in horizontal and vertical boreholes
