The purpose of DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) is to reduce navigational errors made when using GPS. To correct these errors an accurately known position is used as DGPS station. This station constantly compares its real position with the position received through the GPS satellite system. This correction (difference between real position and received position) can be used by other GPS receivers to correct their errors.
terratec offers the service of a DGPS with RTK. We use a trimble 5800 system with an accuracy of approx. 1 cm.
DGPS can be used to:
- identify exact positions of your boreholes (if previously located with conventional GPS)
- level grid lines for geophysical surveys
- determine exact heights of points of interest
